Violet-crowned Hummingbird –
Amazila violiceps , (in addition to the Costa’s, Anna’s and Broad-billed Hummingbirds currently in residence). From January 12, through 29, we had a Violet-crowned Hummingbird visiting our feeders. According to eBird, this is northernmost sighting for ANY time of the year, making it an All-Time Record!!! This bird is rare in the United States, normally only occasionally visiting Tucson in the summer. This year, there have been three sightings in town, in addition to ours, north of the city.
