“Sleepy Kitty”

Our bobcats have gotten incredibly comfortable, around here. Ms. Bobcat has three offspring still with her. The littlest guy naps near me, quite often. Today, the birds alerted me, I went outside with a camera and he just walked by and climbed under the junipers.

I was inside, at the computer, when I heard Cartman erupt into rattling and hissing. I went to investigate and he was right where Ms. Bobcat has her trail to her day-sleeping spot, under the junipers. She casually looked at me, with that cat look all cat-slaves will comprehend, then proceeded to whack the snake…

Last night, the ‘Evening Feed’ for the birds was much more interesting than usual. Four rattlesnakes in one small area… Click any photo for large version with slideshow… …one being a new individual! No name, yet… …but, I love the eyebrows… This is ‘Sazusa’… …in one of her favorite spots… Cheech was just inches away……

Size Matters…

We were sitting outside, in the green rockers, discussing and enjoying each others company. About six feet away, these two rose through the foliage, two Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes (Crotalus atrox). They’ve been hanging close together for the last two weeks.
